Last night, I was trying to go to sleep. My roommate had already fallen asleep and I was about 30 seconds away from being under the complete control of my subconscious when it happened. Some jerk started throwing a basketball against the wall, creating a really obnoxiously loud noise and waking me up...then, everyone decides that it is time to go to the bathroom. ARRRGGGGHHH! My room is right next to the bathroom, so the noise of toilets flushing can always be heard, except when I put on headphones and start blasting my music or watching a DVD...I basically have to wear the headphones otherwise I get this effect (quoting from Red Dwarf):
