WE NEED OUT!

My friend Meggels and I are beginning to get fed up with certain aspects of our school. One of our ways of dealing with this is to create drinking games that we will never use, to entertain ourselves and keep us sane. We created one together for the one class we have together, but I've gone on and created one for two of my other classes:

Meggels & Alfie's Drinking Game:

  • Everytime the girl behind us brings her religion into the conversation - take a shot (True, it is a religion class, but this has been known to happen at least three times an hour and never has any bearing on the class, she just likes to remind us that she's the only person of that particular religion in the class.).
  • Everytime the phone belonging to the same girl goes off in class - take 3 shots.

Alfie's Drinking Game for her first class:
  • Everytime a certain girl tries to show off her lack of knowledge about State Compact Theory - take a shot.
  • Everytime the professor asks me about the news in our school newspaper - take a shot and give him one too, because anyone who thinks that paper actually contains "news" requires some alcohol fast.

Alfie's Drinking Game for the other class:
  • Everytime a certain person sticks their feet on my chair - take 5 shots (This would not be a problem if she puts her feet on the rails underneath, but no, she has been known to kick me in the butt and put her dirty shoes all over my coat.).
  • Everytime the same girl says something and sounds like an idiot - take a shot (You'll be buzzed within five minutes and dead by the end of class.).

Not that you're cheap or anything

Dear My School,

I have somehow gotten the idea that you are trying to save money at my expense. I can't imagine where this idea has come from.

  • Our graduation speaker was going to be at graduation anyway - his son's graduating.
  • You fired my mentor because "Eh, we don't need him."
  • You have changed the toilet paper in public bathrooms on this campus - I personally buy two ply, but I never had a big problem with your 1-ply paper.....however, this 1/2-ply stuff has got to stop.

Note to self

Double check the time for your only Thursday class. Otherwise you'll get ready to go to it, find your schedule in your pocket and discover that the class started fifty minutes earlier.

Good one, self!

I knew it was coming, but....

I realized at lunch today that:

  • we have about ten days left in the semester
  • I'm not going to see my friends for four months while I'm in Aberdeen
  • I'm about to become a senior, which means I am very close to leaving and moving into the real world.

I'm a little scared about all of these things.

This should be interesting

TONIGHT AT 7PM:
MOCK ROCK

This is made more interesting by the fact that not only am I participating (I was up until 3am practicing the dances.), but four of the dances are partner dances. My partner for the first two is 6'4".

*snort*

My partner for the third and fourth dances is closer to 5'10", so that works a little better for me.

Not much though.

Also, Partner #1 is a guy that used to be friends with the EXR and used to spend a lot of time hanging out in my room, occasionally even hanging out with me.

He introduced himself last night. Guess he doesn't remember me. :(

"Uptown got it's hustlers, the Bowery got it's bums...."

Dear 97.5,

Thank you for playing this song everytime I am driving from the high school back to my dorm. I now associate these trips with that song. Eeek.

I'm scared

There is a board downstairs that our RD designed that is entitled "What makes Wesley great?" For some reason, I think he just posted whatever the first twelve people he found said because it includes "half naked RAs enforcing quiet hours" and "the stairways smell like butt." I'm surrounded by weirdos and I might get some really screwed up search requests.

We live rich lives of fantasy

Today at lunch, Heather and I were discussing how horrified Betsy looked when when we told her that at the Be My Valentine auction, we had purchased her a date rather than the flavored water she had asked us to pick up at the Eat Shop while we were at the Kellogg Center. Betsy told us today that she had not believed Heather when she walked in the door and told her, but when she looked at me, she was no longer sure. She actually believed me when I agreed with Heather so she kind of started panicking. So today at lunch, I got them to nominate me for an Academy Award. They agreed and Heather asked me to tell her "husband" Heath Ledger to get back to her right now. We spent the rest of lunch coming up with an outline for Heather's household.

Husband: Heath Ledger
Children: Heath Jr., Heathen, and Heart
Dogs: Muffy (Black French poodle) and Puffy
Chauffeur: Brad Pitt
Butler: Brendan Fehr
Gardener: Viggo Mortensen
Dog Groomer: Nick Wechsler
Pool Boy: Mark McGrath of "Sugar Ray"
Maincurist: Vern Yip from Trading Spaces
Stylist: Richard Gere
Bodyguard: Kim De Lury
Chef: Tom Cruise

Like I said, we have rich imaginations.

Bad Alfie, do not laugh at the shirtless man

I went with Heather and my roommate to the Be My Valentine auction. They were auctioning off guys and girls. Alex was supposed to represent ISU, but I guess he must have wussed out, because ISU was instead represented by Yuji, who was purchased for about $25. Anyway, we laughed throughout the girls' auction because very few guys bid on girls, usually they were bought by friends or sorority sisters. Then the guys' auction started. The guys were really getting into it, dancing all around the stage. One guy took off his shirt. Some girl bought him for $6. One girl went for $25, the highest bid for a girl. One of the guys went for $51 because his frat brothers and this one girl were fighting over him.

Yay, I'm not bored anymore

My roommate is back from disappearing! Yay! We went to the Eat Shop together to get dinner. On the way back, we met up with Heather who walked back with us while we discussed why I hate airplane rides, then we ran into Joel, who was all spiffily dressed up because he was going to join the service frat. He stopped by our room later to bug us, but Becky and Becky were doing chem while I sat on my bed and did Cadaver Anatomy homework. He made some cracks about blonds so we gave him dirty looks and he left.

Finally it appears

Back in October, my Freshman seminar went to France. I was really excited and nervous because I do not enjoy plane rides. I went and had a really good time. I brought back a lot of really cool souvenirs, including a little Eiffel Tower paperweight for my roommate.
We arrived back on a Saturday and I was picked up at the airport by my family. We went out to dinner and then we went home. The next day, I did laundry and prepared to go back to school later that night.
My roommate did not notice my cute new haircut, or if she did, she didn't comment on it, she just studied or left the room to go talk to people. I didn't give her the souvenir because I was really tired and I wanted to wait a couple of days. The next day, Monday, I was watching Monk with Megan and Amanda when she knocked on the door to their room. She asked me if I would come with her for a second. I didn't really want to because I could tell from the way she asked me that something was the matter. I had already been a little suspicious before I left for France that something was up, because I would come back from class and she would be in our room with another girl from our hallway and as soon as I walked into the room, everything would go silent. So anyway, I walked down the hall with her and we went into the room of the other girl. When we got there they told me and the other girl's roommate that they wanted to be each other's roommates and they did not want to be our roommates anymore. They told us that they had been discussing this for two weeks before they mentioned it to us. We asked them for a little bit of time to think it over because they had been planning it for so long. So they said ok. Two days later, the other girl's roommate and I were talking and we came to the conclusion that we didn't want to move. It was the middle of a semester and it would just be inconvenient. We also decided that since they had talked about it for quite a while, we would wait and reveal our decision the next week. However, the EXRs were not satisfied with this arrangement because later that night I was working on my computer when my EXR started talking to me. I took off my headphones and she asked me if I had made a decision yet. This caused another meeting, this time in our room. They listed off their reasons for wanting to switch and why they wanted to switch right now. My EXR told me that she felt guilty when she came in late at night after having gone to frat parties and I was trying to sleep. She made me feel like I was a social reject with no friends whatsoever. Then, if that wasn't insulting enough, she gave up on subtle insults and came flat out and told me that I creeped out her friends when they came into the room because I would acknowledge their presence then ignore them for the rest of the time they were there, unless they spoke to me. At least I acknowledged her friends. When Alex or Megan or Amanda or even my grandparents and parents came to the room, she would pretty much ignore the fact that they existed. When her Mom came to bring her stuff or to put together another piece of furniture for our room, I would always help her out and be polite.
We asked for a few minutes to come up with a rebuttal, so we went across the hallway to talk. We decided that nothing we could say would make them change their minds, so we came up with a few reasons, then talked about whether we would be able to handle being roommates. Then we went back to my room, where the fact that we had the same name which would cause a lot of confusion was shot down immediately, so finally we gave in and decided that we would be better off as roommates to each other than as roommates to the EXRs. We had to meet with our RA and our RD, but eventually, about two or three weeks later, we were finally able to switch rooms.
When Roommate and I cleaned out our refrigerator for Winter Break, we discovered some surprises that my EXR had left behind that we had both assumed belonged to the other. She left us some butter packets, some jam and a leaky bottle of fruit juice. We put them outside of her door, but I guess she had already left so we had to pick them up and throw them away. I know it's really evil, but I was kind of hoping that she would trip over them.

My roommate is sick and gone

My roommate left yesterday. Where did she go? What does she have? Is it contagious?

Blargh

I'm sick, my roommate's sick, I was encouraged not to go to class this morning but did anyway. My friends encouraged me to eat toast after I started complaining about how my Froot Loops where jumping on my stomach. Woke up last night at 2 am when my roommate woke up, thought I had missed my alarm and it was time to get up. Becky had to point out to me that there were still six hours until my first class. I need soup and tea.

Stupid me

Guess who made her entire hall smell like something is burning. The mini-bag of popcorn said that it should be cooked for between 1 and 5 minutes. So, I cooked it for two and a half....and now guys keep wandering past my room and making rude comments about the smell of our hallway. Jerks.

I didn't throw up, in fact, once again I thought it was cool.

I remember, before we started dissection in tenth grade, I thought that it was totally disgusting and that I would throw up over everything if I did it...then I actually did a dissection and it was cool. Yesterday in my Bio Lab, we dissected fetal pigs, which was cool because I've never dissected a mammal before and it was good to have practice before I start Cadaver Anatomy.

I really don't want to go to class today

Oddly enough, this only applies to my first two classes. But seeing as I have the same prof for class #2 and class #3, I think she would notice that I was only there for one class, which means I can't go to sleep and sleep through my Biology class and Freshman Seminar. I actually want to go to French class because we are creating a bizarre sketch in which there are reindeer with GPS and miner's helmets...the helmets were the only idea I've thrown out recently that anyone liked. I also want to go to my Athletic Training class, despite having a test because...I actually like the class.

I need to stop hiding stuff from myself

I found my checkbook again. I lost it for the second time in a two week span, only to discover that just like last time, I had put it somewhere for safekeeping, then forgotten where I had put it. Last time, I found it in a plastic bag in my closet, this time it was underneath my keyboard. I found it accidentally while I was looking for a candy wrapper that I had dropped on my desk.

I'm a nerd...not that you didn't know that

Guess what I listen to while writing papers...that's right. Once More With Feeling, the soundtrack to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I wrote my Biology paper listening to this and I wrote most of my papers for this class to this music too. I got 3.9s and 4.0s on the two papers since I bought this CD. Hmmm.

Computer registration is evil and so are the registrars

Guess who only has one class right now! Yeah, that's right, it's me. I have been entered into an Introduction to Psychology course, hopefully my professor will sign me into the Cadaver Anatomy class and then I get to find two more classes. When I tried to register on Friday I got an error message, so I called the registrar. Her help? "That means the class is full. CLICK!"
